After being diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2023, Shahana Shirazi began a difficult and uncertain journey—one filled with both challenge and resilience. A devoted mother of two sons and proud grandmother to a joyful three-year-old girl, Shahana’s greatest hope has always been simple: to heal, and to be present for the moments that matter most.

From December 2023 through May 2024, Shahana made the courageous decision to leave her home in New York and move to Arizona to stay with her eldest son to undergo intensive cancer treatment. This period marked a major upheaval in her life. She took leave from work, traveled alone for the first time in her life, and placed her health in the hands of medical teams offering no promises—only the hope of progress. Against the odds, her determination paid off. Several tumors were successfully eliminated, and her largest tumor—measuring over seven millimeters—shrank significantly.

Unfortunately, financial constraints forced Shahana to return to New York prematurely. She was unable to complete her full course of treatment and had no choice but to return to work, despite the physical and emotional toll. Over the next year, she struggled to find consistent, reliable care while balancing a full-time job to manage mounting medical debt.

In the spring of 2025, Shahana’s health took a turn for the worse. Pain that began beneath her ribcage soon spread throughout her back. Imaging confirmed that her cancer had spread to her bones.

Despite the debilitating pain, Shahana once again made the difficult journey back to Arizona to be with her sons and pursue further treatment. Her goal is not only to survive, but to reclaim her health and life. More than anything, Shahana longs to be present for the everyday moments that are often taken for granted.
