I’m starting this fundraiser for my dog, Shadow. We recently just found out after a month or 2 of him being in pain with wobbly legs, slow walking, and not being able to be his energetic self, that he has completely torn both of his CCL’s in his back legs, and has also tore his meniscus in both knees as well. This injury has been causing him a lot pain and makes it difficult for him to walk, run, or do everyday activities. After visiting the vet and discussing his options, surgery is the best way to give him the full fun life that he deserves with no pain. He is only a little over a year old, and it’s heartbreaking as a dog momma to see my baby like this. Without this surgery, he would built a lot of arthritis, which will eventually cause him to loose most or all of his mobility in his back legs. The estimated cost for surgery alone on each leg is about 3 to 4,000 per leg, and that is not including his consultation with his orthopedic surgeon, medicine, anesthesia, imaging, aftercare, and the possibility of extensive physical therapy after each leg has been fixed. The recovery process all together is going to be about a year, and that leaves me out of work so that I can take care of Shadow. Me and my fiancé are new homeowners, and newly engaged with wedding plans already made and paid for before all of this happened. Surgery is his only option, and we really need the support in these times to make it possible.

Shadow is more than a dog to us, he is our baby. We’ve raised him since he was 4 weeks old, and he is our whole hearts. He is my emotional support baby, and also my best friend. My fiancé works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, and Shadow is the only thing that keeps me sane at times. He has always taken care of me, seen me at my worst, and now it’s time for us to take care of him. Seeing him in pain and discomfort at such a young age that he is, is truly heartbreaking. We just want him to get back to being his joyful, active, playful self. He has a full life ahead of him, and I do not want him to spend it in pain.
