Hi, my name is Amy Bassett and I am raising funds for my daughter Severina Bassett and her family. In June, Severina was diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductile Carcinoma which is a form of breast cancer which requires aggressive treatment. Severina has a one year old (Iris) and an 11 year old (Jonathan). Severina was still breast feeding at the time of diagnosis.
We are blessed for many reasons! One, it was found early due to Severina's diligence in seeking care for suspected lump. She's a stage one. Two, pushing to have a biopsy of said lump even though the chances were very low of having breast cancer at such a young age. Three, she is negative for the BRCA gene which would result in a higher risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
Cancer is not prevalent on my side of the family, so to hear our daughter has cancer has been overwhelming to process for me and our entire family. No one ever wants to see their child go through pain and discomfort.
Severina has completed five rounds of chemotherapy. She has several weeks of chemotherapy, then surgery (lumpectomy) and then 5-6 weeks of radiation ahead.
Due to the duration of treatment, I am hoping to raise funds to help her and her family of four take some financial stress away. The expense of commuting to and from treatment is high as well as food and loss of wages.
I want to thank all our family and friends who have offered support, positive thoughts and prayers. It's very appreciated!
I am so proud of my daughter for facing this journey head on with such grace and positivity. I could only hope to be so brave. We will be a stronger family as a result of this, and we'll get through it together!
Thank you in advance for being willing to help!
Amy Bassett
