My name is SeVeN Divine, and I’ve been selected to compete in the Miss MarVista Pageant, a fundraising event in Mar Vista where all the proceeds won in the contest will go to support a local rehabs or sober home. Mine is Beit T’Shuvah. While Beit T’Shuvah isn’t exclusively a queer treatment center, it’s a queer-affirming rehab that allowed me to discover myself and embrace my identity. I’m from Los Angeles, and this pageant is more than just a performance for me—it’s a chance to show up as my fullest self: fierce, free, and deeply grounded in recovery.
Drag is new to me, but it’s quickly become a sacred outlet for self-expression and transformation. Through it, I’m rediscovering parts of myself I thought were lost—creative, joyful, bold, and beautifully queer. For much of my life, I was told I was either too much or not enough. Recovery taught me that vulnerability is a strength, and drag has helped me embrace being non-binary, showing me that holding all parts of myself is powerful. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I hope to show others that there’s joy and fun even in the uncomfortable moments. My drag name, SeVeN Divine, honors my drag mother, Elleven Divine, and keeps our tradition of numbers alive.
Preparing for this pageant means investing in wigs, costumes, props, and all the details that make a show memorable. I’m doing what I can, but I can’t do it alone. If you believe in second chances, queer resilience, and the power of art, your support—whether financial, sharing this fundraiser, or words of encouragement—means the world. Thank you for helping me step into the light and for supporting both my journey and the recovery community.
