Help Seth van Zuid-Korea naar Engeland

Hoi allemaal,

Onze lieve vrienden Samantha Morris-Zwart(Nederlandse) en haar man Will Morris(Brits) zijn van Engeland naar Zuid-Korea verhuisd voor het werk van Will. Niets stond hun geluk in de weg toen Samantha zwanger bleek te zijn. Op 7 augustus zijn ze mama en papa geworden van Seth. Een heel dapper jongetje. Seth is geboren met een hartafwijking en een slokdarmafsluiting (oesofagusatresie i.c.m. een trachea oesofagus fistel, OA/TOF). Hij heeft op 14 augustus een levensreddende operatie gehad. Na 5 weken in het ziekenhuis te zijn verbleven met minimaal contact met zijn ouders, mocht hij eindelijk naar huis. Dit was helaas van korte duur. Hij kreeg complicaties en moest weer terug naar het ziekenhuis waar ze erachter kwamen dat zijn slokdarm langzaamaan weer dichtgroeide. Een nieuwe operatie is noodzakelijk, maar de verzekering heeft de polisvoorwaarden gewijzigd en dekt de medische kosten bij een aangeboren aandoening niet. 

Zijn volgende levensreddende operatie wordt dus niet uitgevoerd. Samantha en Will voeden hun lieve Seth nu al weken door een neussonde. De situatie van Seth wordt alleen maar schrijnender. Ze proberen daarom terug te komen naar hun thuisland Engeland.

Eindelijk was daar goed bericht vanuit de Britse ambassade. Op 15 oktober zouden ze waarschijnlijk naar huis mogen vliegen. Maar helaas stapelde de ellende zich op. Seth is thuis gekomen na een derde opname in het ziekenhuis met een longontsteking. Op zaterdag 7 oktober leek Seth stabiel en fit genoeg om mee naar huis te kunnen en de 15e te kunnen vliegen. Na 30 minuten thuis te zijn ging het mis. Seth stopte met ademen, liep paars aan en reageerde nergens meer op. Inmiddels ligt Seth opnieuw in het ziekenhuis (waar de kosten voor alleen de kamer variëren tussen de €100 en €500 per dag afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid). Hier bleek dat ook zijn luchtpijp inmiddels is vernauwd (Tracheomalacia). Dit is een bijkomend probleem van Seth zijn aandoening. De arts gaf de mededeling dat het niet meer vertrouwd is om met Seth te vliegen.

Om Seth in leven te houden, moet hij zo snel mogelijk een spoedoperatie krijgen aan zijn slokdarm in Zuid-Korea of met een medische vlucht naar Engeland worden vervoerd, waar hij alsnog kan worden geholpen. Hier is veel geld (€100.000) voor nodig. Help jij Seth en zijn ouders mee?

Hello everyone,

Our dear friends Samantha Morris-Zwart (Dutch) and her husband Will Morris (British) moved from England to South Korea for Will's job. Nothing stood in their way of happiness when Samantha found out she was pregnant. On August 7th, they became mom and dad to Seth, a very brave little boy. Seth was born with a heart condition and an esophageal obstruction (esophageal atresia with a tracheoesophageal fistula, OA/TOF). He underwent a life-saving surgery on August 14th. After spending 5 weeks in the hospital with minimal contact with his parents, he was finally allowed to go home. Unfortunately, this was short-lived. He developed complications and had to return to the hospital, where they discovered that his esophagus was gradually closing again. A new surgery is necessary, but it appears that the insurance company changed the policy and doesn’t cover the medical costs of a congenital disorder.

His next life-saving surgery will thus not be performed. Samantha and Will have been feeding their dear Seth through a nasal tube for weeks now. Seth's situation is only getting more dire. Therefore, they have been trying to return to their home country, England.

Finally, there was good news from the British embassy. On October 15th, they were likely to be allowed to fly home. Unfortunately, however, the troubles continued to pile up. Seth returned home after a third hospitalization with pneumonia. On Saturday, October 7th, Seth seemed stable and fit enough to go home and fly on the 15th. However, after being home for 30 minutes, things took a turn for the worse. Seth stopped breathing, turned purple, and stopped responding to anything. Seth is now back in the hospital (where the costs for the room alone vary between €100 and €500 per day depending on availability). It was revealed here that his trachea had also narrowed (Tracheomalacia). This is an additional problem related to Seth's condition. The doctor conveyed the message that it's no longer safe to fly with Seth.

To keep Seth alive, he needs an urgent surgery on his esophagus in South Korea or to be transported to England via a medical flight, where he can receive the necessary treatment. This requires a substantial amount of money (€100,000). Will you help Seth and his parents?
