Update (8/9): After calling around to at least 15 vet clinics, it seems that what the ER vet quoted for normal clinics for her gastropexy was inaccurate. All vets quoted 1000+, with the lowest being 1100 + 160 for blood work. I will be prioritizing her surgery first over the excess what was not covered by insurance, with this, venmo, and collecting cans I still need about 300 dollars for that. Hopefully we can reach her goal!
Update (8/1): Juniper is doing great! But still needs surgery to avoid another stomach flip. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover quite as much as they thought (exam fees, giving her medication she already took before hand). It looks like I'll still be needing to cover 740 for her stay, plus around 400-600 for her gastropexy. I will be keeping the gofundme open in hopes we can raise funds to cover it all.
Update (7/18): Juniper has been resting and playing a little more day by day, we're monitoring her food and monitor intake like hawks. She now has a slow feeder and water bowl. I am continuing to raise money for her gastropexy. We're 40% away from being able to pay for it! If you'd like to help this sweet girl our gofundme will continue to be open until we reach our goal. Any extra funds will be donated back to Dove Lewis to help fulfil their wishlists of food, blankets, beds, etc.
Update (7/14): My sweet girl is back home for now! Her stomach is no longer distended. Her recovery journey is long, once she is recovered she will have to go into surgery for a gastroprexy. This is when her stomach is tact in two spots to prevent her stomach from flipping again. Bloat is fatal and I am lucky I caught it so early this time. With this surgery it will prevent it from happening again, I have update the goal due to my insurance not covering a preventative surgery. Anything helps, thank you
Late last night (7/12) my service dog start pacing and chugging water endlessly, her belly started to distend rapidly and she was rushed to the emergency vet. She was admitted immediately for suspected bloat. Her stomach was completely filled with fluid and gas to the point they can't even tell if her stomach is flipped. She is now staying in the ICU with an NG tube down her nose getting fluid drained periodically and expected to be staying another night. She is struggling with delayed emptying of her stomach as well. Surgery is still up in the air and we're around at 4k+ in bills and could be more. Luckily my insurance covered 90% of her stay, but there's still a lot left from that 10% and a journey of recovery ahead
Anything helps, I miss her and want her to be healthy again. I will update the thread as I know more.
