I am a 21 year old who has a service dog. His name is Toby C. I've had him since I was 15 years old. We've been together for almost 6 years. Toby has changed my life completely and he's always given me a reason to wake up every morning. Toby started to develop health issues about a year and a half ago. We have gone to numerous vets, and had multiple late night emergency room trips. They couldn't find anything specifically wrong except that his spleen was a little enlarged. We've been monitoring his spleen and Toby has been getting ultrasounds every 6 months. Unfortunately, his most recent ultrasound showed that his spleen got significantly larger than the previous one 5 months prior. They initially wanted us to just keep an eye on it. However, it's getting worse so now we have to act on it. They are worried it's potentially cancerous or an infection, and the best route is to remove his spleen. Toby is scheduled to have a splenectomy on February 17th. Due to the severity of the surgery, he needs to have it performed at an emergency vet where they have blood on hand in case because there is a high chance he will require blood transfusions. He will need to stay overnight at the vet for at least one night, but may end up being longer. The estimated cost for the surgery is between $5,000 to $10,000, depending on how long he needs to be hospitalized and if he does need blood transfusions. I am currently in a financial hardspot, so I am asking for any form of help/support that anyone can offer. I can't imagine my life without Toby. If you're able to, I would greatly appreciate any donation to help pay for his surgery. Thank you so much.
