Help Service Dog Creed Get To His Owners Wedding

Donation protected

Updated 3/15/2023 While we have reached our goal for the surgery, Creed is still in the recovery process and is having some issues from his chronic hepatitis/liver disease and IBD (Irritable Bowl Disease). He will most likely have to be on the nausea drug Zofran for the rest of his life and needs imagining every three months. He is also on pain medication for his IBD and UTI which he may also be on for a while. He is currently weaning off of his steroid for his liver. Unfortunately, yesterday morning he started peeing blood and he has developed a UTI since the steroids make him have to go to the bathroom a lot. He also has to wear a diaper as he has had some accidents with the increased water intake from the steroids but that should resolve itself after we stop them. So they will be putting him on an antibiotic to cover the UTI. These medications and imagining are very costly and due to the continued complications, we have run out of donation money so we will be increasing our goal to $20,000 to get help with the continued treatment and monitoring of his condition. While he is having a lot of issues internally he sure doesn’t act like it. He is still a happy active boy. We hope we can get everything under control and he can continue to live a happy long life. The doctors and nurses at Penn Vet are hopeful and love spending time with Creed. We could not be more thankful for all the help we have already received for Creed. Creed is the best boy and I know he would want to stick around for more treats and pets as he loves food and attention. Thank you so much for your continued support.

This is Creed and his human, Blair Hagelgans. Canine Assistants matched Creed with Blair to be her service dog in 2014. Creed was named after a young boy that passed from cancer, that had a connection to a hospital therapy dog. Creed the boy was said to be saved one time by the therapy dog Casper. Creed the dog is named in memory of that five year old boy. Blair received Creed right before starting her first year of college at York College of PA. She suffers from several medical conditions. As a result, she has undergone 18 brain and spinal surgeries. Being a part-time wheelchair user, Blair has relied on Creed to assist her with day to day tasks. He has been there to get her through even her toughest days. Creed attended 4 years of college and now goes to work every day with his owner at a HVAC wholesale business. While Creed supports his human with everyday tasks he also brightens the office of every employee and customer. He gets to hang out with the business’s other dogs while at work, but definitely prefers humans; especially ones with treats.
Creed recently was diagnosed with a tumor in his intestines and a mass in his liver. His symptoms include Creed to vomit 1-2 times a day. He will need surgery to remove the tumor in his intestines and biopsy his liver. Creeds humans are getting married in April of 2024. Creed and his humans want to give him the best chance of seeing his parents live happily ever after.
