Carl has been diagnosed with severe degenerative joint disease. It’s come to the point his hind legs give out walking across the house. His surgery has been quoted at $15,000 for bilateral hip replacement. His doctor thinks he is a healthy candidate and his trainer has said that this can provide many more years of future service.

I got Carl at 14 weeks old after my life was turning down. I thought if I don’t get a dog now I never will. I didn’t realize in under a year I would be retired. Carl fell into being my service dog. Carl has been my rock for 7 years of separation after the military, divorce, retirement, my mother passing, a failed engagement and a plane crash the week after that. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Carl.

All money will go towards his surgery, travel, rehab and future care. I’m just trying to take as good of care of him as he has taken care of me these last 7 years.
