My granddaughter Serenity has been working hard all year to raise money to go to a gymnastics trip at Disneyland Resort in California. Her mother, Amanda Phillips, is one of the hardest-working single mothers I know. She was injured at work in a snowmobile accident in February and is still unable to work or drive. With grandparents and friends helping with childcare and daily tasks, it has been a struggle to raise money for this trip. They have held several yard sales, created crafts and baked goods, and are still falling short.

Serenity has been in gymnastics for 6 years, competing for the last 3. She trains for competitions 9 hours per week, practicing on many early mornings, weekends, and holiday breaks.
