My name is Serena.

I am British, and my long journey of self-discovery and spiritual pilgrimage eventually brought me to Türkiye, where Gabriel and I found one another, fell in love, and married.

For more than four years, we have tried to create a stable life together while continuing the work closest to our hearts sharing love, spiritual understanding, and what this journey has taught us. Visa and residency challenges, constant movement, and temporary living made it difficult to establish the secure foundation we needed, both for our marriage and for the life we hoped to build together.

The past two years, and particularly this intensely difficult last year, have taken a great toll on my health.

I now urgently need a hip replacement.

The cartilage in my left hip has completely worn away. The resulting imbalance is now affecting the other side of my body and has placed tremendous strain on my pelvis, back, neck, and shoulders. I live with severe pain, can no longer carry myself even with two canes, and am now dependent on a wheelchair and on Gabriel’s daily care.

I also need proper medical attention for my blood pressure, thyroid condition, eyesight concerns, and my wider health after a prolonged period without consistent medical care.

Without the financial stability or access to the consistent medical care I now urgently need, remaining in Türkiye is no longer sustainable for us. It has become essential that we reach England, where we can begin again with stability and finally move toward the hip replacement that can no longer be delayed.

Our aim is simple: to establish a modest and stable home, bring my health into consistent medical care, and finally reach the hip replacement I urgently need. At the same time, after years of uncertainty and temporary living, we want to give our marriage the stable foundation and peaceful home we have been trying to create.

We hope to pursue the surgery through the NHS. If the waiting period proves too long for my condition, we need to remain open to private treatment.

For us, stability and healing are inseparable. I need a safe home before surgery and a secure place in which to recover afterwards.

What we need to raise

£30,000 — Hip replacement, medical care & rehabilitation

A reserve for specialist care, possible private hip replacement if needed, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation.

£25,000 — One year of stability in the UK

A modest accessible home, deposit, rent, council tax, essential bills, food, and basic living needs during treatment and recovery.

£7,000 — Gabriel’s visa & immigration

Visa and immigration costs, documentation, and professional advice needed for us to make this return together.

£8,000 — Our remaining transition in Türkiye

A safe roof and essential living needs while we prepare our return and complete the necessary process.

£5,000 — Travel & establishing ourselves in the UK

Flights, wheelchair and accessibility needs, transportation, and immediate relocation expenses.

£7,000 — Transition & contingency reserve

For unexpected housing, immigration, accessibility, and other practical costs that may arise as we establish our new life in the UK.

Total Goal: £82,000

For a long time, much of the support that reached us was needed simply to keep a roof over our heads and carry us through another day.

Now we are asking for enough to change the circumstances themselves.

To return to the UK together.

To have a home.

To bring my body into the care it urgently needs.

To give our marriage the stability it has waited for.

To finally move from survival toward healing and creating a new beginning.
