Beloved hearts, friends, and kind souls,

My name is Serena.

I am a British citizen, born in the UK, and after more than a year of unexpected hardship, instability, and worsening health, I am asking for help to return home and begin the medical recovery I urgently need.

In March 2025, my husband Gabriel and I lost the stability we had been living with and found ourselves without secure housing or financial support.

Since then, we have been living temporarily in Turkey while trying to survive, find solutions, and raise enough support to move forward. We hoped that a medical pathway would open here, but despite our efforts, this has not happened.

Over the past year, we have also been trying to find a way for me to return to the UK, but circumstances and lack of sufficient support prevented that from happening sooner.

The continuous movement, changing locations, different beds, and lack of stability have taken a serious toll on my health. My already urgent hip condition has deteriorated significantly.

My hip is now bone against bone. My mobility has severely declined. I can only walk a few painful steps with two canes and rely mainly on a wheelchair for getting around.

My condition has become so restrictive that my husband Gabriel has had to become my full-time caregiver, supporting me physically through the challenges this has created. Without his daily support, managing this journey in my current physical condition would not be possible.

The physical imbalance caused by my hip has also created further strain in my body, including serious pain and problems in my neck and right shoulder. These issues will require physiotherapy and care alongside my hip recovery.

At this point, our focus is completely on returning to the UK.

Returning home has always been our intention. The UK is my homeland, and as a British citizen, it is where I need to rebuild my life and access the care I urgently need.

Returning to the UK will allow me to reconnect with healthcare and receive support for my wider medical needs, including thyroid, blood pressure, and other health concerns.

However, my hip requires urgent action. The NHS pathway from assessment to specialist consultation and surgery can take many months, and my condition has reached a point where I cannot wait for a long timeline.

For this reason, we need to explore private medical care for specialist assessment and hip replacement as soon as possible.

Our Goal: £55,000

This fundraiser is to help me return home, create stability, access urgent medical care, and begin my recovery journey.

The immediate first stage is approximately £4,000–£5,000 to cover:

• Travel and accessibility needs
• A helper/caregiver during the transition
• Initial accommodation and essential needs after arrival
• Medical consultations, assessments, and understanding the next steps

After returning to the UK, I will need a stable home environment where I can prepare for treatment and recover safely after surgery.

Because I have been away from the UK for several years, I will need to rebuild stability and secure a one-bedroom flat. Depending on my recovery timeline, I may need several months of accommodation while preparing for and recovering from surgery.

Estimated costs may include:

• Rent for a one-bedroom flat: approximately £1,000–£1,100 per month
• Bills, utilities, and essential living costs
• A stable recovery environment after surgery

The medical journey ahead may include:

• Private hip replacement pathway in England: approximately £20,000–£30,000
• Specialist consultations, scans, imaging, and medical preparation
• Physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and follow-up care

Our £55,000 goal reflects the estimated journey of returning home, establishing stability, accessing private medical care, and creating the conditions needed for recovery.

The exact medical costs will become clearer once I am safely back in the UK and have received proper specialist assessment.

Gabriel’s situation is also part of this journey. Due to visa difficulties, he cannot immediately travel with me. The first priority is getting me safely home, stabilised, and into the correct medical pathway.

Once my health situation is clearer and my recovery has begun, we will explore the next steps for Gabriel to join me.

Over this past year, any support we received went directly toward survival temporary accommodation, food, transportation, and accessibility needs. We are deeply grateful for everyone who helped us through this period, but we were never able to create the stability needed to move toward recovery.

Now we are asking for help to take the next step: to return home, access care, and begin rebuilding.

If you are able to donate, share this campaign, or help us reach people who may be able to support us, every act of kindness matters.

This is not only about travel or medical treatment.

It is about creating a bridge from survival back to life and new beginnings.

After more than a year of pain, instability, and uncertainty, my deepest wish is simple: to return home, receive the care my body urgently needs, stand again without unbearable pain, and begin a new chapter beside my husband.

Thank you for reading our story and for standing with us.

With gratitude,

Serena & Gabriel (Aydin)
