**Funds collected and distributed to them by their daughter Amy and Son in Law Richard(Rick) Moreno.
On October 1st, 2024, Don and Donna were in bed and smelled smoke. As two disabled seniors with two dogs that was an especially scary thing to smell. When they realized the smoke was coming from their back hallway in their San Marcos house, and that their house had somehow caught fire, they had no choice but to gather their two dogs and escape through the side door with nothing else. They barely made it outside and left every other important thing including personal ID documents, special collectibles, truly everything.
Donna had been prescribed oxygen for recent health issues and they had an oxygen machine in the hallway, and when the fire got hot enough caused an explosion blowing apart the side of their home and which caused the fire to burn very hot and very fast. They lost everything. Unfortunately their homeowner's insurance lapsed a few years ago after some flooding in their home and the company raised their rates so much that it was no longer affordable for them, so there will be no help coming from insurance to help them relocate into a safe place to live.
Don and Donna were already on a very tight budget, which is now even tighter. Their daughter's small home is very limited in space and there isn't enough room for them all to live their comfortably. no one in the family has enough savings or income to fund them at this time.
Don and Donna would be so grateful to receive enough funds in order to get into a one bedroom apartment. In the meantime your donations will help them to stay in a safe and clean hotel room. The goal is for them to receive enough assistance to get together a deposit and first month's rent for an accessible lower level apartment, a little extra for them to live on until they get caught up financially, and to help them replace furnishings, bedding, clothing, food, necessary items, supplies for their dogs, medications, and even some comfort items.
Thank you for your support. Please share this far and wide and help these people regain their dignity and the comforts of a home. Their daughter Amy and Son in Law Richard(Rick)will be collecting and managing the funds for them through this process.
