Help Senior Cat, Cloud, Find Peace in Her Final Moments

Donation protected
Cloud is a senior cat (18+ years old) with hyperthyroidism, developed kidney disease, and has now developed congestive heart failure secondary to this disease.

Over the last few years, while she has had numerous vet visits and medications to help control and manage her condition, age has caught up to her in her journey and it is now time to help put her body and spirit at rest.

This GoFundMe is set up with the intention of helping Cloud's father, Gabe, with the costs associated with giving Cloud an at-home euthanasia, where she can be most comfortable, safe, loved, and unafraid in her final moments.

These last two days, the emergency vets drained 180cc's of fluid from Cloud's chest cavity through a chest tap. After her follow up, more fluid had continued to build up.

For a small house-cat, 180ccs is so significant — this would be like needing to drain over 100 cups of fluid from an average human. To have this fluid build up yet again over two nights is medically significant.

It would be a disservice to put Cloud through the fear of another chest tap to drain the fluid, knowing very well that the fluid will return. Putting her under anaesthesia to perform the procedure is an additionally undue burden on her body that poses its own risks.

The decision to put Cloud to sleep comes at the advice of her vet teams of her regular vet office and the emergency team that took care of her, and with all the love in the world from Gabe, as he was faced with the decision no pet-parent ever wants to face.

After emergency vet procedures and additional follow ups, many financial resources have been drained in order to obtain the clearest understanding of Cloud's prognosis.

It is with this that we are asking for help with covering what is left for Cloud's final treatments, and to help send her on her last adventure, where Gabe can be with her as she crosses over.

Thank you to everyone taking the time to read this. May you all be able to hold your loved ones close and cherish them every day.
