Wesley has been selected to Study Abroad in Madrid Spain from May 20-June 22. He’s met have his financial responsibilities but still needs approximately $6,500 to cover air fare, meals, and housing accommodation's. He has applied for multiple scholarships but most of them are not merit based but needs based or for minority.
Wesley graduated in top ten of his class at NL and was the band President his Junior and Senior years. He is completing his Junior year at Texas A&M; where he’s majoring in Public Health and Minoring in Spanish for Health Professionals. Upon graduating from A&M, he’ll be applying for med school (he takes his MCAT on May 16) and has a dream of one day becoming a trauma surgeon.
Wesley has continued to show how important leading with a servants heart is; as he’s been in a leadership position of his Unit since his Sophomore year, where he began as part of the training team. As a Junior he has had the role of 1st Sargent and has already been told he’ll be the Commanding Officer his Senior year, the highest leadership position there is.
Even With his leadership responsibilities and his responsibility as a Fighting Texas Aggie Band Member, he has continued to focus on his grades and even putting in close to 15hrs a week on studying for his MCAT.
This Study Abroad opportunity isn’t only a great experience for him and something “fun” to do. Wesley will be earning credit hrs towards his Spanish Minor and it looks great on med school applications. Besides this, I feel that he deserves this opportunity because of all the hard work he’s put in beginning his freshman year of highschool to now!
He would be upset with me for doing this as he’s very humble and I’m going to do my best to hide it from him. Any amount is so greatly appreciated.
