Nick and I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Matamoros Children’s Home in northern Mexico this December 14–18 with the Jackson chapter of CMDA (Christian Medical and Dental Association).

Nick is currently in his second year of dental school, and I am in my final year of dental hygiene school. Long before we were married, God put a calling on both of our hearts to serve others through dentistry, and this trip is our very first opportunity to truly answer that calling together.

Alongside other dental, dental hygiene, occupational therapy, and physical therapy students, we will be serving in the Home’s dental clinic, which has recently been equipped with state-of-the-art tools but needs providers to bring it to life. During our time there, we will work diligently to meet the physical needs of the children and staff, using the training and skills God has given us to serve in a meaningful way.

Matamoros Children’s Home currently cares for more than 150 children, providing a safe, loving environment for orphans, neglected, and abused children since 1967. For over 50 years, the Home has shown unconditional love and continues to grow—and with that growth, the needs continue to grow as well. We feel deeply honored to be part of meeting those needs during this trip.
