Hi, my name is Rachel and I'm raising money to cover my attendance at the Effects of Oil on Wildlife Conference in Cape Town, October 2025! I'm a volunteer with Western Australian Seabird Rescue (WASR) and I'll be speaking at the conference about the tracking and rescue techniques which allowed us to capture over 50 oiled pelicans during an oiling event in 2023.

By sharing our response to this unusual and challenging event, we hope to help other wildlife groups that may experience a similar situation.

I was grateful to receive a scholarship to help cover costs from the conference organisers but will need a further AUD$2800 to cover flights, accommodation, registration, meals etc for the week of the conference. Any monies raised that exceed my goal of $2800 will be transferred to WASR to help us continue to rescue and rehabilitate seabirds and waterbirds.
