Help Send Rachel to CD2

I began my Conscious Discipline journey in 2012, unaware of the profound impact it would have on my life.  What started as accepting an invitation to attend a 3 day retreat has lead to a shift in understanding myself and those around me.  Conscious Discipline is a research-based approach to social-emotional learning and the development of self-regulation skills.  Since that initial retreat I've increasingly integrated CD into my classroom, school and personal life.  I've been blessed to attend  the Conscious Discipline Summer Institute (CD1) in Orlando, FL (2014) as well as serving as a Helper and Presenter at the CD1 satellites in Chapel Hill, NC (2016 and 2017).   In addition to implementing CD in my dance classes, I currently serve as the co-chair of our school's social-emotional health committee, help lead our monthly CD staff cohort meetings and have initiated and implemented quarter whole-school family assemblies that teach essential CD skills to our staff and students.  I often joke that CD is my second language.

The skills I've developed through practicing Conscious Discipline have greatly impacted my students and school community, but they've also greatly helped me through my personal life struggles.  In November of 2015 my husband John was diagnosed with stage 4A colorectal cancer.  Over the past 2 years Conscious Discipline has helped me to acknowledge and deal with my own emotions while being John's helpmate in ways I'd never imagined possible.  We've faced chemo, radiation, more chemo, the loss of his job, an experimental treatment, and now more chemo head-on with the help of the skills I've learned from Conscious Discipline.  However, I know that I need to dig deeper, and that's where I need your help.

Once again I find myself in the blessed position of being offered more training - I've been accepted into the Conscious Discipline Advanced Institute (CD2) .  I'll be honest - I hesitated to apply.  I know I need this experience, yet I'm anxious about leaving John with my parents for the better part of a week.  And I'm not able to pay the full registration fee.  At a time when finances are my constant stressor I decided to step out in faith and apply.  Those of you who know me well know that it's hard for me to ask for help, but many of you have asked repeatedly how you can help us, so here goes.  Please help me get to CD2.  Any donation helps pay the rest of my registration fee and my flight to Florida.

John and I thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.  We constantly feel the love and support of our friends and family.  Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
