Help Send Our Students on the Trip of a Lifetime
My name is Mrs. Manning—though many know me as Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus. For 27 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in the Boston Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher. I believe deeply that learning happens both inside and outside the classroom, which is why I’ve taken students on over 300 field trips—yes, 300! Each month, I organize free monthly field trips in and around Boston, always using public transportation to keep costs low and the experience authentic. Our school is inclusive, and every student—including those with disabilities—participates fully in these adventures.
Each year, I cap things off with an overnight trip for our 8th grade students, and this year we’re heading to New York and Philadelphia to explore iconic historic and cultural sites. This 3-day, 2-night trip costs $860 per student, covering transportation, lodging, meals, and activities. We’re bringing 30 students, half of whom receive special education services, along with four dedicated teacher chaperones.
Thanks to parent contributions and community fundraising efforts since October, we’ve made incredible progress. But due to new students enrolling mid-year and some unforeseen challenges, we need your help to close the gap.
100% of your donation will go directly toward supporting students’ trip balances.
Your support will provide an experience these students will carry with them for the rest of their lives. In my nearly three decades of teaching, when former students reach out to me, they don’t just remember test scores or report cards—they remember where they went, what they saw, and how it made them feel.
“We must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.”
—John Hope Franklin
Thank you for believing in the power of hands-on learning and for helping us give our students a journey they’ll never forget.
