Help send our string quartet to BC Provincials!
Donation protected
We are the CANT Ensemble, a student string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) studying at Amati String Studio in Victoria, BC. We recently entered the local performing arts festival (GVPAF) and were chosen by the adjudicator (Pamela Highbaugh Aloni of the Lafayette String Quartet) to represent Victoria as the Junior Chamber Music group at the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival in Fort St. John, BC at the beginning of June.
The provincial festival is a chance for us to continue learning through workshops and performances with adjudication from some of the best musicians in Canada. As a group, it will give us the opportunity to grow and improve our music and ensemble skills. This is a very rare moment, as there are many ensembles in Victoria, and we are extremely grateful to have been chosen to represent the city. We are all very excited to go, and hope that this fundraiser is successful, so that our families can continue to provide us with the education and opportunities that we need in order to fulfill our dreams.
There will be four of us plus our teacher travelling to the north of BC, and the cost to make this dream a reality is far more than our families can manage. Once we add the costs of five plane tickets, accommodations, meals, transportation at the festival, and a cello rental due to the fact that taking the cello with us would mean a sixth plane ticket the cost is $1,700 per person.
We are counting on the support of friends, family and other supporters of classical music to help us reach our goal.
We extend a HUGE thank you in advance if you can make a small donation, and if not, we ask you to please share this with friends and family who might be able to help us reach our goal.
This recording of Grieg's String Quartet Opus 27 first movement was taken a few months ago during a recital in preparation for our Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival performance.
We hope you will consider making a donation or sharing this with others. Every donation counts, no matter the size. We thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
Carys (14), Amani (12), Noa (14), and Toben (14).
