I am only doing this since it was suggested! I have a 5th grader who is safety patrol this year! He is beyond excited to be safety patrol. He was even more excited to go to Washington, DC! We attended a parent meeting and signed up. We had to make an initial deposit and make payments every other month. So far, we made $700 worth! We found out we had to go to Boston due to our 4-year-old daughter who was born with a congenital heart defect, so we spent quite a lot of funds going there. We made sure to only spend as needed because this was not a vacation trip, just a medical visit. We were then unable to make the payment for December 2025. I told the teacher, and the teacher said there was nothing that could be done at that point and that there are no refunds. My husband is beyond upset because we are going to lose $700.00. I am unable to make the rest of the payment. There are two payments left of $450.00. People suggested I do a GoFundMe to see if we can make it. If not, it’s okay. There is also a Disney trip that’s only $265.00. I cannot pay for that at the moment due to the expenses in Boston and medical bills. Like I mentioned to people in the Facebook group, I wish I would have known of this and would have not signed up for this and could have at least sent him to Disney. So, again, I am doing this because others have suggested.

My son knows he cannot go to Washington, and he said even though he is sad, he is grateful his little sister is alive and well.

If someone does want to donate, I feel like since we still owe $900 for Washington that it’s a dead-end road, but maybe he can go to Disney! It’s cheaper, and he will at least share a good memory. Disney is only $265.00.
