Help Send Nevin's Film "The Brain Train" to Film Festivals!

Hello family and friends!

My name is Nevin and I’m wrapping up my biggest production yet---"The Brain Train"---and am seeking financial help to distribute it. I wrote and directed this film and have been working on it nearly everyday since August, 2025. It was made in my final year of Concordia University’s fiction filmmaking class with a cast and crew of over 20 people, including union actors and some of the most talented students near graduation!

My own expenses have already totalled around $5,000, being my responsibility to feed the entire team during production, pay for transportation, gear rentals, set construction, various honorariums, and more. Now I am hoping to recuperate some funds which will help me distribute the film to festivals, and reach a wider audience. Submission fees range from $30-55 per festival. I aim to submit to 15-30 different independent and international film festivals in major cities across Canada as well as renowned festivals abroad.

ABOUT THE BRAIN TRAIN:
In a state where visual art is illegal, an elderly man named Johnny works to destroy it. Discovering a train car that grants spatial access into his mind, Johnny realizes his desires to create art. His boss soon tasks him to buff the train’s graffiti, though his mind-opening experiences inspire a more rebellious act.

WHY DONATE?:
Screening this film in theatres is extremely important to me and The Brain Train community. The core messages of this film are about bringing people together through self-expression. It is in the shared space of a theatre where this message can be best communicated. I confidently believe that each screening will cause groups of friends and strangers to share several laughs at the fun humour in this film. It’s an unexpected way of connecting with others and I believe that is deeply important in our time. Promoting this kind of playful and adventurous story through screenings may inspire hundreds or even thousands of people in a small way, but each little inspiration will add up to something quite big.

This distribution support early on in my filmmaking journey will be extremely impactful to my growth as an emerging filmmaker. Aiming to finish my film degree in December, these screenings will support future funding in the independent world and many of these festivals will qualify the film for government grants from places like Telefilm Canada. I view each project as a stepping stone and am committed to making films which have a positive and uplifting impact on both the filmmaking community and its audiences. I believe I can use my filmmaking skills to help make the world a better place, and your support is what will help enable me and give me leverage in the start of my career.

If you would like to check out any of my previous films in the meantime, you can do so on my website: www.nevinlouie.com :D.

I am sincerely grateful to anyone who is able to donate, no matter the amount and I will email a finished copy of the film in the coming weeks to anyone who is able to support the project. I am hoping the film will release at a festival this summer and continue to screen throughout Canada into 2027! Thank you so much for supporting this project!
