Band Parents of Morgan Park (BPMP) proudly supports the Morgan Park High School Band of Distinction, a program with a long tradition of representing the school and community through music, leadership, and excellence in performance. In collaboration with Band Director Mr. Everett Newchurch, student musicians in grades 7–12 participate in performances, educational experiences, and cultural events throughout Chicago while developing discipline, teamwork, confidence, and leadership through music education.
The band has proudly represented Morgan Park at numerous high-profile events and community celebrations, including Chicago Bears halftime performances, the Hope Chicago Gala, the Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade, the Republic of China National Day Celebration Parade, and the National Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The band also performed a special tribute honoring Morgan Park alumna Catherine “Cat” Glover, former backup singer and dancer for Prince, with the performance streamed internationally.
Through the support of our community, the band was able to successfully attend its educational travel experience in Jackson, Mississippi, providing students with valuable exposure to collegiate band culture and expanded learning opportunities. While we were not able to attend the Atlanta trip this season, we remain committed to providing these types of opportunities in the upcoming school year and look forward to returning to both destinations, along with additional educational travel experiences for our student musicians.
Community support has also helped address important program needs beyond travel. Because of your generosity, we are able to purchase additional instruments and assist with important expenses that were not originally budgeted, helping ensure that more students are able to fully participate in the band program.
Many student musicians face financial barriers that can make participation in these opportunities difficult. Band Parents of Morgan Park works to help support student access to educational travel experiences, performances, equipment, transportation, uniforms, and other approved program needs that strengthen the overall band experience.
Funds raised through this campaign will continue to support educational travel experiences, instruments, uniforms, equipment, transportation, student opportunities, and other approved program and organizational needs that help sustain and strengthen the overall band experience.
This fundraiser is organized by Carmen Holiday on behalf of Band Parents of Morgan Park (BPMP), an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting the Morgan Park High School Band of Distinction.
Thank you for supporting the talented student musicians who proudly represent our community through music, leadership, and performance.
