The Morgan Park High School Band of Distinction has a long tradition of representing the school and community through music, leadership, and excellence in performance. Under the direction of Mr. Everett Newchurch, student musicians in grades 7–12 participate in performances and cultural events throughout Chicago while developing discipline, teamwork, and confidence through music education.

The band has proudly represented Morgan Park at numerous high-profile events and community celebrations, including Chicago Bears halftime performances, the Hope Chicago Gala, the Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade, the Republic of China National Day Celebration Parade, and the National Day of Service honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The band also performed a special tribute honoring Morgan Park alumna Catherine “Cat” Glover, former backup singer and dancer for Prince, with the performance streamed internationally.

Beyond performances, the band program provides students with meaningful opportunities to grow as musicians and leaders. Educational travel experiences allow students to visit colleges, connect with other band programs, and experience cultural and artistic opportunities that expand their vision for the future.

However, many students face financial barriers that can make it difficult to participate fully in these opportunities. Band Parents of Morgan Park works to ensure that talented student musicians can continue to perform, travel, and grow regardless of financial circumstance.

Funds raised through this campaign will help support essential band expenses including transportation and travel costs, instrument and uniform maintenance, equipment needs, and educational travel experiences that allow students to represent Morgan Park with pride and excellence.

Your support helps ensure that the Morgan Park High School Band of Distinction continues to provide meaningful opportunities for young musicians to perform, grow, and represent their school and community across Chicago and beyond.
