Hello!! I’m Logan (they/them) a queer Hong Kong-born adoptee SF/F writer from Chicago! I’m hoping to attend the Viable Paradise writers’ workshop this fall with the help of a Writer of Color Scholarship and anything folks are able contribute; Viable Paradise would be my first writing conference centered solely around speculative fiction, and I’d love to build friendships with fellow SF/F writers and gain some more knowledge on the industry. I’m so excited about the opportunity to learn and be part of the Viable Paradise community, and I’d be extremely grateful for your help in getting there. As a writer, I’m interested in short stories that center QTPOC and am also really hoping to meet more QTPOC SF/F writers through Viable Paradise to write with for a long time. I’m writing about giant beetles and sapphic mech sororities and loss and grief; reading decolonial SF/F has really shaped my understanding of what the genre can do, and I’d really love to continue to be part of that larger literary conversation.

By day, I work as an administrative assistant at an art school and have had to spend pretty much all of my income on rent and healthcare this year. The $1,250 tuition cost of VP (with the Writer of Color scholarship) is still unfortunately outside of my financial means—I’m going to work extra gigs in order to pay for VP’s housing cost (~$400+) and hopefully someday I’ll be in a place where I can give back financially to the community!
