Our hearts are broken as we had to let go of the love of my life, my son’s father last night. Kevin lost his battle with mental health and addiction after years of struggling.
He was only 27 and the most kind-hearted, amazing person and he brought so much joy to everyone that knew and loved him. He has left a hole in all of his loved ones but the biggest gift he gave us is our son Tafari, who just turned three years old.
Kevin tried so hard to make Canada his home and to find his happiness, we are so broken that he was unable to succeed in this overwhelming task, no matter how much we know he wanted to.
We all feel strongly that he would want to be laid to rest next to his father in Kenya.
Friends that have had to do this before have given us the amount of 15,000.00-30,000.00. We are currently still in the process of getting the quotes from funeral homes as we are all just trying to process, that this is our actual reality right now.
Please help us with any amount you can, so that we can bring Kevin home to find his peace.
The only hold we have, is that he is finally at peace and no longer hurting, but to truly find his rest, he needs to go back home to Kenya.
Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart
this poem was written by my sister:
You chose to walk toward the light.
May it embrace you dearly and hug you tight.
Keep you warm the way our love couldn’t do,
Gift you peace and calm, allow you to finally love you.
This fine life was yours for the taking,
We couldn’t save you from trembling and shaking.
May your fathers now hold you and guide you and show you,
That you deserve all of life’s goodness and grace too.
Your wife and son are with us dear,
We promise to love them more than enough here.
Though we will never be able to fill your seat,
Because that place was for you, for your drum and your beat.
Little brother your heart will dance on.
It now beats in the chest of your son.
We will make sure that he’ll feel that you loved him,
Now your numbness and absence can’t harm him.
He‘ll learn that his Papa is safely home,
In a place that allows him to finally feel warm.
Rest In peace darling brother I am so sorry you hurt,
You leave us your son as your love, the greatest present on earth.
