Help Send Joseph to Howard Law

I am a young autistic Black man from Birmingham, Alabama, and I am a recent first generation graduate from Tuskegee University, the #4 HBCU in the nation.

My big sister passed the month before I started college. I’ve spent all four years going as hard as I could in her memory. I lost my grandfather, uncle, and mentor all during college as well. Throughout my grief, I did it!

Now I’m on my way to Howard University School of Law in the fall! The goal for this GoFundMe is to raise the necessary expenses and start an emergency fund by late July in able for me to attend the university in the fall.

Here is a link to the estimated cost of attendance per year, the university says
$68,420 a year. The rest will be in a saving account for bills and other potential expenses.

My passion for the law lies in my deeply held conviction that the weak and powerless deserve a voice in order to advocate for them. I want to be a lawyer, not to enrich myself, but provide aid to humanity. Seeing the anguish on my parents face when they were unable to afford a lawyer has been permanently etched in my mind, and I vowed from that day forward to fight so that no one else will ever have to encounter that situation. I want to serve my community as an advocate for the persecuted and underrepresented among us, while also respecting the rule of law. I want to become a lawyer to be a voice for the voiceless, and someone to advocate for those who have no one. Howard University has a legacy of producing some of the greatest minds of Black America. Pioneers such as Alberta Odell Jones and Thurgood Marshall were educated in these same halls and went on to change the world in which they lived. The greatness born by this university is undeniable, and it is my desire to contribute to that legacy and go on to change the world. I want to dedicate my life in the service of others, and it would be an honor to begin my journey at Howard University School of Law this summer.

Any and all donations, reshares, and other forms of assistance are accepted and more than welcome. Thank you all in advance for helping me on my journey to become one of the 5% of Black lawyers in the country, and to become the first lawyer in the history my family.
