We are very lucky that Jewell has progressed as much as she has. Upon first arrival at OHSU, Jewell was in a medically induced coma. Slowly she began to wake up, but was unable to follow a conversation for more than a second or two. We have seen her make leaps and bounds towards getting back to where she was, so much so that there is talk of her returning to work in 2018... But we need your help.
The next step in Jewell's rehabilitation process is an expensive one. OHSU has recommended she attend an 8 week program at the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center (BIRC) in Portland, a specialized center focused entirely on rehabilitating their patients cognitively, physically, and occupationally. They are the best at what they do, and it expected their care will really expedite Jewell's recovery. It is recommended she start this treatment early January 2018.
There are two options with their care, a half day 8 week program and a full day 8 week program. As of now, we can only afford to do the half day program for 6 weeks. This program is out of network for our MODA insurance, so they are only covering a fraction of the cost. We would love to be able to afford to put Jewell in the full day 8 week program to maximize her recovery in this critical healing period. Instead of asking for the entire amount, we are asking help in paying the difference between the half day and the full day program, which is $17,500. By raising this amount, it would cover the difference of what we are unable to afford for the full day 8 week program for Jewell.
Anything is appreciated. Any money raised will go towards her therapy.
Thank you for helping me help my Mom.
