Greetings,
My name is Imani English and I am a Dance Educator and Emerging Choreographer in the Chicago area. I have recently been selected to showcase my new work "Healing The Healers," in the upcoming Baltimore Black Choreographers Festival next month!!
Originally created on the students of the Chicago High School for the Arts, Healing the Healers is a piece dedicated to all those who heal. It's for mothers, guardians, teachers, mentors, counselors, all those who pour so much into the art of nurturing others who too need a safe space to heal themselves. The piece explores the complexities of the layered emotional journey of searching for healing, experiencing the healing, receiving the healing, and the throughline between them all.
Lodging and travel expenses for the dancers are not covered by the festival and will be covered by myself. This is where I need your help! With your support, my work as an emerging choreographer will be exposed to a new network in the thriving arts community of Baltimore, and this message of healing will be spread across the country.
