Hello, my name is Gerald and I am fundraising for my brother Derek Burton. Derek was a fun loving guy who never made enemies. He was the life of any room he went into and people loved him deeply and never had anything bad to say about him. Most called him a "gentle giant" this big armed guy loved everyone and treated them like he known them for years. He would greet you with a "Heeeey buddy" then every time he see you thereafter he will tell you "happy birthdaaay!" People of all races, ethnic backgrounds and religion respected him and showed him love and admiration. But to me, he was more than just my big brother, he was my best friend first. We did almost everything together, and we learned so much from each other. My mother use to tell me I felt Derek could never do any wrong and that I would try to follow him around whenever I had a chance... and he would let me. God took him away too soon but I know he is with my mother smiling down on me and guiding my every step. So I know that everything happens for a reason.

Sadly, Derek had a hemorrhagic stroke on the 22nd of November in the year of 2021. He fought a good fight and stayed alive for as long as he could although doctors felt that he probably wouldn't make it due to the amount of affected brain tissue that were damaged. Derek past away on the 13th of December from going into cardiac arrest and couldn't be revived. He was only 41 years old and left behind both a teenage daughter and son. Unfortunately, Derek did not have life insurance or medical insurance so I am trying to raise money to be able to give my brother a proper burial service. Anything is greatly appreciated to hopefully reach our set goal as soon as possible to be able to put a deposit at the mortuary. The funeral will be held the last week of December but a specific date cannot be made yet until we have a deposit.

Derek will truly be missed by all who known him, we just ask to pay him back for all the good times he gave us by laying his body to rest respectively. Rest in heaven big bro!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAY!
