David is one of Bridge students and came here with his dad from Guatemala a little over a year ago. They left behind his mom and four sisters after losing their small coffee farm due to a volcano eruption that destroyed it. Yesterday, David lost his dad unexpectedly and due to COVID restrictions was not with him. He is here alone, and wants to send his dad home for burial, but recently lost his job. Our Bridge family wants to help him send his dad home and to be able to financially survive until he can move forward in the next few months. Our program is anchored in an In Lak'ech pedagogy - tu eres mi otro yo - and we would really like to make this happen for David. Although Bridge is a family, it is heartbreaking to imagine what he is going through without the support of his mom and siblings.
