My son read Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds and decided that for his bar mitzvah project, he wanted to give more kids the opportunity to read this and other inspiring books.
He is raising funds for the the Cynthia Graham Hurd Foundation because it is devoted, as she was, to instilling a love for reading and a sense of civic responsibility in young people. Her life ended after she and other congregants welcomed an angry stranger into Charleston's Mother Emanuel AME Church in 2015. This fundraiser honors her life's work as a librarian and woman of faith.
Funds raised go directly to the foundation.
