A home‑grown Bathurst athlete. A green‑and‑gold dream. A once‑in‑a‑lifetime moment.
Bathurst’s own Dylan Ruming has achieved something extraordinary — he has been selected to represent Australia at both the Oceania Championships in Darwin and the World U20 Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA.
For a kid who has trained on grass ovals like Morse Park, without high‑performance facilities, without elite testing, without fancy programs — this is the kind of story that reminds you what heart, grit, and country toughness can do.
Dylan is the NSW U18 400m State Champion, the Australian U18 400m National Champion, a national 100m finalist, a bronze medallist in the 200m, and — in one of his proudest moments — the anchor leg of the NSW 4×400m relay team that won the National Title.
A Bathurst boy bringing it home on the biggest stage.
He’s earned his spot. He’s earned the singlet. Now we want to help him get to the start line.
Why we’re fundraising
Representing Australia is an honour — but it isn’t cheap.
Dylan has been selected for two major championships in the same season:
- Oceania Championships (Darwin) — approx. $4,000
- World U20 Championships (Eugene, USA) — approx. $6,000
That’s $10,000 just to get Dylan to both events in the green and gold.
But our community dream is a little bigger.
For more than a decade, Dylan’s Mum and Dad have been the ones behind the wheel — early mornings, long drives, weekends away, state after state, meet after meet. From Sydney to Perth, Adelaide to Darwin, they have poured their hearts, time, and energy into helping their son chase his dream.
If we can raise a little more, we would love to help them travel to the USA to watch Dylan run for Australia — not from a 3am livestream at home, but in person, in the stands, witnessing the moment they helped build.
Every contribution helps us get closer to that goal.
Who Dylan is
He’s a humble, hardworking Bathurst kid who attends Kelso High.
No ego. No shortcuts. No special treatment.
Just a young man who shows up, works hard, and represents his town, his state, and now his country with pride.
He’s proof that world‑class talent can come from regional Australia — from kids training on grass, from families doing the hard yards, from communities that rally behind their own.
How you can help
Every contribution — big or small — helps get Dylan to the world stage.
Your support will go directly toward:
- Travel costs for Oceania Championships (Darwin)
- Travel and accommodation for the World U20 Championships (Eugene, USA)
- Competition levies and uniforms
- If possible: helping Mum travel to the USA to watch her son represent Australia
This is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity — not just for Dylan, but for a family and a community that has backed him every step of the way.
A message from the Bathurst community
We’re incredibly proud of Dylan — not just for what he’s achieved, but for the way he carries himself. He’s a role model for younger athletes, a credit to his family, and a shining example of what regional kids can do when given a chance.
Let’s help him take this next step.
Let’s send him to Eugene.
Let’s put Bathurst on the world stage.
