One year ago, when I proposed to my fiancée Laura, my Aunt Margaret promised that no matter what, she would be there to see the two of us get married. She has always been an amazing positive presence in my life, and I can’t imagine a wedding without her being there. The challenge is that over three years ago, my Aunt Margaret was diagnosed with ALS, and is currently confined to an electric wheelchair. On top of that, Aunt Margaret’s condition makes it difficult for her to earn an income, and her loving partner Marcia dedicates almost all of her time and money to taking care of Margaret. They are currently able to make ends meet, but nearly everything gets put back into Margaret’s medical bills and treatment.
In order to travel from their home in New England to our wedding in Laura’s hometown of Indianapolis, it would require a round trip first-class ticket for both of them - Margaret’s wheelchair does not fit down the coach aisle, and her current condition requires her to be close to a bathroom at all times. Margaret and Marcia simply can’t afford the cost of such a ticket, and sadly, no one in my family is in the position to be able to cover such a steep cost. We are all so, so sad that we aren’t able to help make this trip a reality for Margaret, especially since this is only something that comes around once-in-a-lifetime.
We are going to do whatever we can to still bring the wedding back to my Aunt at some point (money can’t stop us from celebrating!) but it would mean the world to my family if she was able to be there in person for that special day. Every little bit helps! Laura, myself, and the entire Liberge family thank you from the bottom of hearts for anything you can contribute.
Thanks,
Chris
