We are the students of APPSE: American Public Policy-Special Emphasis, an elective civics and Constitutional law class at Wauwatosa East High School.
Throughout the 2023-24 school year, the sixteen of us, all high school juniors, with the help of our six senior teaching assistants, and our teacher, Michael Aronow, have been preparing for the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution mock Congressional hearing competition. He have spent thousands of hours, collectively, poring over Supreme Court decisions, political philosophy research papers, public policy proposals, the Federalist Papers, and other Founding documents. We have interviewed experts in government, law, and history. And we have written, re-written, and debated thesis statements on a range of Constitutional topics.
In January, we competed in the Wisconsin State Finals . Now, through our hard work, we have earned a spot to compete at the national level in Washington, DC! But, we need your help to get there!
Airfare, lodging, and meals in DC are expensive, about $2,000 per student. Please help us make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity a reality. Any amount that you can give to support us will help, and is very much appreciated!
Donors will receive updates on our progress as we prepare for the competition, and we'll share pictures from our experience!
Thank you,
Abby
