Let's support our dear friend, Andres Chavez, a talented photographer, visual artist, and graphic designer from Caracas, Venezuela, now making his mark in Chicago, get to a prestigious photojournalism workshop.
About Andres:
Andres Chavez is a photographer, visual artist, and graphic designer originally from Caracas, Venezuela, now residing in Chicago. His work reflects a deep curiosity about the world, often focusing on the complexities of human nature, subversive subcultures, and the volatile political landscapes that define our era. His art is not about traditional beauty; it’s about mirroring our shared experiences, capturing fleeting moments that reveal what it truly means to be human.

Over the past year, Andres has been stepping up his photography work, particularly with the Chicago Center for Photojournalism. His street photography in Chicago has been nothing short of remarkable, capturing the raw and authentic experiences of life in the city. Among his most striking work is a powerful collection of images documenting the lives of Venezuelan migrants, a subject close to his heart given his own journey from Venezuela.

Recently, Andres obtained a press pass to cover the Democratic National Convention, a testament to his growing engagement in the field. He shared some of the insights he gained covering the convention at a lecture for the Chicago Center for Photojournalism—giving back to the photojournalism community and furthering educational efforts.

The Opportunity:
Andres has been accepted into the prestigious Missouri Photo Workshop in Kennett, Missouri—an incredible opportunity to hone his skills alongside some of the best photographers in the world. This workshop is renowned for its focus on capturing the stories of rural America, a part of the country often overlooked in the fast-paced world of modern media. Through this experience, Andres hopes to deepen his understanding of visual storytelling, learning how to convey the immaterial, emotional, and conceptual contexts of the stories he captures.
Why Andres Needs Your Help:
However, there’s a challenge. The costs associated with attending the workshop amount to $2,000, which includes tuition, travel, accommodation, and other related expenses. While Andres is incredibly passionate and determined, this financial hurdle is significant.
How You Can Help:
This is where we need your help. By contributing to this campaign, you’ll be directly supporting Andres in his journey to become an even more impactful storyteller. Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a huge difference in helping him seize this opportunity to grow and share his vision with the world.
Let’s come together to help Andres continue his work of capturing the human experience through his lens, preserving those fleeting moments that tell the stories of our time.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
