Hello!
As some of you know, I am a vocal performance (and acting!) major at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Through my studies as a music major, I found my way into a massive love for opera, performing in Puccini's 'Suor Angelica' with our opera workshop class, and making my mainstage debut as Marcellina in Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro' this past fall.
I was recently accepted into La Musica Lirica, a 5-week opera festival in Italy happening this summer. I was offered two roles– one of which is described as a diva, and one of which is described as a creature, which describes me very well, and I am so psyched about it! Additionally, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will give me valuable experience in learning the Italian language, vocal lessons with different teachers, and concert and performance opportunities. Basically, I get to sing non-stop for 5 weeks, which is little Amelia’s DREAM. Also, I am preparing for grad school auditions in the fall, so this will be an excellent way to train and meet other young artists in my field! The cherry on top of all this is that I’ve never been out of the country, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to escape the US for a while and explore this beautiful part of Europe.
However, with the combined costs of tuition, food, housing, and traveling to a foreign country (especially under the current circumstances), funding this incredible experience has been difficult. If you are able and willing to donate, it would mean the absolute world to me. Thank you so much for your support.
