Hi,

My name is Miriam and for the past 5.5 years, I have been the foster parent to an amazing teenage girl.

I don’t usually ask for help. I’m the “figure it out and make it work” type.

But this time, I’m asking because I can't figure it out alone.

My foster daughter is autistic and lives with significant mental health challenges. Life has never been easy for her, but rugby? Rugby changed everything for her.

Her rugby club is amazing, they gave her structure, confidence, belonging, and a place where she feels strong instead of “different.” They have always accepted her with open arms. It’s where she feels like she truly belongs.

Her rugby club is heading on tour to Wales and Ireland—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This trip is more than travel. It’s growth, independence, pride, and memories she will carry forever.

Unfortunately, the club underestimated the total cost of the trip. On top of that, due to her medical and mental health needs, I must accompany her to ensure her safety and well-being. This wasn’t optional—it’s necessary.

We are hoping to raise $2,000 to help cover the cost of her participation in team meals and the cost of transportation which is much higher than expected. The trip we thought would cost 2000$ each is quickly moving up to 3300$ each, 2600$ more than expected for both of us.

I’m a single mom doing everything I can. I have organized a spaghetti night, helped in countless fundraisers and have been pinching pennies for months, but it wasn't enough. There is no financial support from the foster care foundation for this trip, and while I would move mountains for her, this one is too heavy to lift alone.

I want her to experience the world.

I want her to feel capable.

I want her to know that her diagnosis does not limit her dreams.
