Every August, we celebrate Kimberly Coffey's birthday by honoring the dream she never had the chance to fulfill.
Kim was just 17 years old when meningococcal meningitis took her life. She had been looking forward to graduating high school and starting nursing school, where she hoped to become a pediatric nurse. Caring for others was simply who she was.
She never got that chance.
Help Keep Her Dream Alive
For the past 13 years, Kim's mom, Patti, a nurse herself, has honored her daughter through the Kimberly Coffey Foundation Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Each year, the scholarship helps graduating New York high school seniors pursue nursing by easing the financial burden of their first year. Donations help cover expenses like:
- College tuition
- Textbooks and required supplies
- Other essential costs of starting nursing school
- Our Goal: $5,000
This August, we're raising $5,000 to fund four nursing scholarships for students beginning their journey toward becoming nurses.
Every dollar invested helps a future nurse take the first step toward a career of caring for others, just as Kim always dreamed she would.
Why It Matters
When Kim became critically ill, the nurses who cared for her also cared for our family. They comforted us, guided us, and showed us that nursing is about so much more than medicine. It's about compassion, dignity, and being there when people need you most.
Kim never had the opportunity to become the nurse she wanted to be, but through these scholarships, her dream lives on in students who share her passion for helping others.
Make a Difference
Whether you give $20, $50, $100, or any amount, your donation directly helps future nursing students afford the education they need to care for patients and families for years to come.
Thank you for celebrating Kim's birthday with us and helping ensure her kindness, compassion, and dream continue to change lives.
