My name is Semi and my boyfriend Jack literally starting from zero had no insurance or coverage. I am the owner of the old Humboldt Exchange new Vanilla Sky Co. My business and home burned same day. Any support, whether through donations or sharing our story, would mean the world to us as we try to rebuild our lives. Yesterday, a devastating fire at 10th and H Street in Arcata , destroyed not only my business and my living space in same building, my all belongs family heritage and every single sentimental thing are gone and in a matter of moments, we lost everything we owned. Thankfully still alive. We escaped from fire with only the clothes on our backs didn’t have enough time and no wallets, no IDs, and no insurance to help us recover. We are now displaced, with nowhere to stay and no resources to fall back on. In the immediate aftermath, our most urgent needs are for emergency lodging, weather-proof clothing, daily essentials, and food. We are also facing the daunting task of replacing our identification and official records, which is necessary to access relief and begin rebuilding. Looking ahead, we hope to secure a new place to live, replace basic furniture, and start to recover the tools and inventory lost in the fire so I can eventually start from scratch. Transportation to city and county recovery appointments is also a priority as we navigate this difficult time. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity during this extremely challenging time of our lives.
