Hi, my name is Selma. I’m a 21-year-old woman with a rare genetic condition called Riley-Day Syndrome, which makes me insensitive to pain and has caused lifelong medical complications. I’m also legally blind, so I can’t drive or easily access help.
I’ve faced years of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse from my parents. Recently, my situation became unbearable—my family has refused to let me eat at home, and my father’s anger has become violent. I’ve been in and out of the hospital for weeks due to severe illness and a menstrual cycle that’s lasted over three weeks, but my mother refused to take me to get medical care.
I was supposed to receive an eye surgery (a keratectomy) to help repair corneal scarring, but that never happened because of my family’s neglect. I’ve been teaching English online and running a small personality-type coaching business, but it’s not enough to safely leave.
I have a loving fiancé and his family abroad who are supportive and ready to take me in, but my parents have tried to stop me from traveling by taking my passport. Shelters near me are full, and I’m running out of safe options.
I’m raising funds for food, temporary housing, medical care, and travel expenses so I can finally get to safety and rebuild my life in a healthy environment. Any help, no matter how small, will truly mean the world to me.
Thank you for reading my story and helping me find safety and healing.

I only started charging $16 on Preppy a few days ago but I normally receive between $6-9.75 a lesson which hasn’t been much and I’ve been using it to buy food. A d pay for my phone bill.
