I'm raising funds for one of the hardest-working and kindest people I know. She is a first-generation graduate student and volleyball athlete at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri.
She is the kind of person who shows up early, stays late, and never asks for more than she needs. As a freshman student-athlete, she balances a demanding academic schedule, collegiate volleyball, and a part-time job without the safety net of significant financial support. Despite working consistently and giving her best in every space she's in, she currently owes $1,600 in tuition and cannot register for her next set of classes until that balance is paid.
I've had the privilege of knowing her both as a teammate and as her manager at the coffee shop where she works. I was a senior in college this year and one of her teammates, and she is a freshman, but you wouldn't be able to tell due to her resilience, work ethic, and positive attitude standing out among everyone around her. She approaches every challenge with humility and determination, never complaining, and always giving her best to her team, her job, and her education.
This fundraiser is meant to help lift a temporary financial burden so she can continue pursuing her degree and representing her college as a student-athlete. Any support, whether through donating or sharing, will go directly toward helping her stay enrolled, continue her education, and keep building the future she is working so hard for.
Thank you for supporting a student who truly embodies perseverance, gratitude, and commitment. Our goal is $2,000 to cover her outstanding tuition balance and help with basic academic expenses.
A message from Selena: Hi everyone! My name is Selena Flores and I am a student at Cottey College who is in need of some financial help right now. I am currently struggling financially with my parents not being able to help me much and due to that I am on hold to be able to register for classes. I play volleyball for Cottey as a defensive specialist/libero. After graduating at Cottey I strive to go to school to either become a radiologist or physical therapist. I am also the first in my generation to be going to college so this is new for my parents as they do not know ways to help me as much, going to school is very independent for me. Growing up I lived with my grandparents and went to school at Hurley, a really small town and school with only about 300 students all K-12. In high school I played all the sports I could, basketball, softball and volleyball and worked hard academically all throughout. Going to school is very important to me and I am very determined to get my education and have a good future.
