It's been a hard time for so many people this last year and a half +, including my dear friend Selena and her mom Alyx. The pandemic has kept Selena and Alyx apart, both of them being high risk, for the longest stretch ever! Alyx lives in Carthage, Missouri and Selena is in Santa Rosa, California. They haven't been able to visit as they would in a normal year, and both have been faced with different challenges.

Currently, Alyx struggles to get up and down her stairs each night to go to her bedroom. While she waits for assistance from local agencies like Habitat for Humanity, which can take months if approved, I've set up this account to get the ball rolling.

All funds donated will help pay for home customizations to make things more accessible for her in the downstairs bathroom and moving her bedroom downstairs. After Alyx's room is moved downstairs any extra funds will go towards more critical home repairs like fixing a leaking roof, improving insulation, HVAC cleaning and window replacement. Selena is working on getting quotes for the needed repairs and I will update here when we know how much it will cost.

Finally, if Alyx and Selena can figure it out, some funds will cover either flight or road expenses so the two can see each other again soon.

I've know Alyx for over twenty years. She is the sweetest and kindest soul you can meet, funny too! She's always thinking of others even when she isn't feeling her best and it'd be great for her to know how many people are thinking about her and care for her, just as she does for us.

My own mother passed away suddenly in February after decades of fighting with her health. I was lucky enough to live close to her and I can't imagine how hard it is for Selena being so far away from her mom, when her mom needs her, and vice versa.
