Help Selah Live Life Fully: A Journey to Freedom From Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma
Selah is a vibrant, wise, and incredibly brave 10-year-old girl who is living with the devastating diagnosis of stage IV adrenal cortical carcinoma. Despite her illness, Selah continues to show the world her strength, resilience, incredible spirit and hope.
She is the beloved daughter of Mara and JP, two self-employed and deeply community-centered parents who have always worked tirelessly to provide for their family. Together with her three siblings—Szerafina (15), Odin (7), and Oak (5)—Selah has created a home full of love, laughter, and support.
In December 2024, Selah underwent surgery to remove a mass on her right adrenal gland. Unfortunately, her cancer has recurred, and it has spread to her lungs. Despite ongoing medical efforts, the disease continues to progress, and there are no further treatments that can cure her. While accepting this the family and friends of Selah hold onto hope for change, with a strong belief in the power of community and the limitless potential of love to restore total health.
With her diagnosis, Selah and her family have chosen to prioritize her comfort, well-being, and the precious moments they have together. As her condition worsens, Selah has lost the ability to move comfortably, making it impossible for her to continue her hockey career—a sport she loved and excelled in.
But Selah is not defined by her illness. Instead of giving up, she and her family are finding new ways for her to stay involved with her teammates and community, whether by cheering them on from the sidelines or supporting them behind the bench. Selah’s courage, determination, and passion for life are unwavering. She shows all of us that being an athlete isn’t just about playing the game—it’s about showing up, no matter the circumstances.
In the face of all this hardship, Selah continues to inspire everyone she meets. Her name, Selah, means “To Pause and Reflect”—a reminder to slow down, cherish the small moments, and focus on what truly matters. Through her strength and bravery, she teaches us all how to live fully, even in the most difficult of times.
How You Can Help:
Selah’s parents, JP and Mara, are both self-employed and dedicated members of their community. They are working hard to balance the demands of their businesses with their desire to spend as much time as possible with their daughter and family. We are asking for your help to relieve some of this financial burden, so that JP and Mara can focus on being with Selah and the family as they extend the joy, experiences, support and love to its fullest capacity. The funds raised will allow them to find balance with work while exploring alternative options for aiding Selah's health, create meaningful memories together and enhance Selah's life in any way possible.
We need your support to help Selah live out her life to the fullest, surrounded by love and comfort. Your donations will allow her family to focus on what truly matters—being together, every moment they have.
In addition to helping Selah’s family facilitate her continued care and support the initiatives that she cares about, a portion of each donation will go towards her growing bursary, which will give access to young girls in pursuing their dreams. Selah knows first hand that doing what you love, with people you care about, is what gives life meaning and joy, and she wants to help others have what she has.
Please donate, share, and send your prayers. Every bit helps, and every gesture helps Selah experience all she can while continuing to eternally spread peace, light, love and joy!
