Help Selah’s family - It's kidney transplant time!

Dear Ones,

You have journeyed with us and we are ever grateful. Asking for more support feels absurd. And, yet, here we are.

Our sweet 2-year-old daughter, Selah, is in urgent need of a kidney transplant. She's been battling nonfunctioning kidneys since before birth. We experienced unexplained infertility for 6 years prior to our pregnancy with Selah, which included one miscarriage. We decided to shift directions and move towards embryo adoption. Soon after, we discovered we were pregnant with Selah.

Perfect heartbeat at early ultrasound. We were given an "incompatible with life diagnosis" at 21 weeks. A fetal surgery, 51 amnioinfusions, and life-saving dialysis 4-7 days a week, 4-23 hours a day has gotten us to this day. Miracle on miracle. Love in every room. Her life has been both miracle and trauma.

There honestly aren't many Selah's out there in the world. She is foraging a new path for children born without functioning kidneys. Now, her lifespan and her future depends on this surgery. Selah’s dialysis line is now compromised. And she doesn't have any other great places for a central line to go. We are soooo deeply grateful Ashley’s dear friend Jess will be her kidney donor. We are eager and waiting for a brighter future for Selah with such a selfless gift.

She is generously offering their kidney to save Selah's life. This act of love is truly indescribable, but it also comes with a financial burden that we can't take care of on our own.

Here's how your support can make a significant impact:

Medical Expenses: Your donations will help cover any medical costs associated with Selah's transplant, including pre-surgery tests, the transplant surgery itself, and post-surgery care. Any extra we have from this fundraiser will pay for ongoing costs to keep Selah’s kidney happy throughout her life.

Lost Wages: The donor will need time off of work to recover, anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Geoff will also need time off this year that will likely be unpaid, as he has used all 23 years of accrued sick time for our girls, to provide care and attend appointments for Selah. Your contributions can help replace their lost income during this crucial period.

Post-Surgery Support: Selah’s family and her donor will benefit from the ease of being able to order meals and pay for childcare during the recovery period.

Support and Awareness: Your donations will help raise awareness about pediatric kidney disease and the incredible gift of life that the donor is giving to Selah.
