In 2016, my friend Sekanao was involved in a devastating minibus accident in Malawi. She suffered the most severe injuries of anyone on board, leaving her with metal implants throughout her back, hip, and leg. Unfortunately, hip replacements do not last a lifetime, and now, hers is failing.
The screws have loosened, causing her unbearable pain and making it nearly impossible for her to move. As of very recently, she can no longer work, and despite her best efforts when she was able to, she earned just €44 per month - barely enough to survive. Sekanao is also a loving mother to a four-year-old son who depends on her.
Right now, she is in constant, unrelenting pain. No medication can ease her suffering, and without urgent surgery to revise her hip replacement, she faces a high risk of infection, sepsis, and even death.
The cost of the surgery is 6 million Malawian Kwacha (€3,400). If 170 people could donate just €20, we can reach this goal and give Sekanao a second chance at life - free from pain and full of hope for Sekanao and her sons future.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference to restoring Sekanao's quality of life. If you're unable to give, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach more people.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
