Hi, my name is Seema. I was about to start my third and final year at Jacobs University majoring in Industrial Engineering and Management when I had received this email that halted my life options entirely. I have been struggling since the pandemic has started as I had lost the one job I was able to get last year and I was not able to get any other job in 2020. Coming from a middle-class family, I always had to hustle to make sure I make ends meet to not starve myself, or end up homeless as my family is all the way on the other side of the world and they are struggling with their own financial hardships trying to sustain themselves. I don't want to burden them any further and I hate having to resort to this option, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I am currently homeless and crashing at my friend's couch because the university kicked me out as a third-year student who is supposed to have an internship for next semester. The problem is if I get disenrolled from the university then I wouldn't be able to be eligible for an internship at all, moreover, I can't even go back home because I'm bisexual and my family doesn't approve of it hence the termination of my residence permit in this country will not only apply to halting my education but also will change my life completely as I will have to go back and live a false life; a person I'm not. I'll appreciate help in any form, it would mean a lot even if you just shared my story.
