Hello everyone
Im Denisha, Im a 30 year old mom. I have 1 son and custody my 2 younger sisters who I have been raising for the last 4 years. I am creating this fundraiser to help me with my ongoing battle with stage two cervical cancer.
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer on May 1, 2021 and started treatment the following week on May 10th. Throughout my first treatment I went through 25 radiation treatments, 5 external, and 5 internal chemo treatments. I rung the bell and finished what I thought would be my last treatment on July 06, 2021. Little did I know the worst was yet to come.
I started back working that summer and tried to get back to my normal life but sometime in mid September I started having minor pains on my right side. I brushed them off thinking it was side effects of the cancer & radiation treatments.
October 1st I went for a scheduled check up and they informed me that instead of my cancer being gone completely it grew drastically and was now pressing against my ureter and causing my right kidney to not to function properly. I started my 2nd round of treatments on October 20, 2021 which included stronger chemo drugs that are more harsh on the body. The treatment plan called for 3 days of intense chemotherapy every 3 weeks for 5 months. On November 13th they made the decision to insert nephrostomy tubes to protect my kidneys from further damage.
Since starting the new chemo drugs I have not only lose all of my hair, but also my way of life. The pain started becoming unbearable and I find myself spending more and more days in the bed between treatments. Besides the pain that my body has to endure physically the worst part about it all is my kids having to watch me go through this. Being strong for them is all I ever wanted to be, so for them to see me so weak and vulnerable has really effected me mentally. I was scheduled to end my treatment today March 3, 2021 but was just informed that due to the radiation causing damage to my internal organs I now have to be schedule to get a colostomy bag. Once again just when I thought the worst part of cancer journey was over I have more mountains to climb.
By donating money you will be helping me with my medical expenses as I search for a second opinion and better treatment to help me become cancer free. If you are unable to donate, my only request is that you share my story and this link so I can get the word out to as many people as possible.
