I am a kidney transplantee of 14 years this October, and every month I go to Emory Hospital for an infusion treatment of the drug Belatacept, which is not available in pill form. My health insurance covers most of these treatments, but they are very expensive, and I currently owe $8,247 that has gone into collections. This debt is weighing heavily on me, and I need help to continue receiving the treatments that keep me alive.

Last August, my GM vehicle malfunctioned—suddenly accelerating without me pressing the gas pedal, and the brakes failed. I was transporting a painting contractor at the time, and we went through four lanes of traffic, up onto the curb at Little Five Points in Atlanta, and nearly into pedestrians and storefronts. By the grace of God, I managed to turn the vehicle around in a small fenced-in construction area and stop at two large trash containers. Both my passenger and I suffered back injuries, but thankfully no one else was hurt. Since then, I have relied on Uber, Lyft, and medical transportation for all my travel needs, and I need $3,500 for transportation until the legal case is settled.

Paying off this medical debt will allow me to continue with my monthly infusion treatments that are necessary to stay alive. Transportation assistance will help me get to my treatments, attend church on Sundays again, and visit my family locally.
