Help Secure Susan's Forever Home

Donation protected
Our dad Marvin left this world and went to Heaven on Independence Day, July 4, 2025. He left an immense void in the lives of many.

We found out he had cancer in the esophagus just after Christmas. He was getting treatment, and we were optimistic. Six months later, he had trouble breathing and went to the emergency room. The scans showed that the cancer had aggressively spread to the lungs. He died three days later. Our mom was at his side singing hymns until his last breath. We joined her moments later.

Marvin had great love for his family, his friends, and his community. He gave selflessly, teaching others about life and how to follow Jesus.

He was a builder his whole life, and in 2023 Marvin and Susan set out to build their dream home to live out the rest of their lives. Using his own hands and the help of his grandsons, Marvin built his house from the ground up, start to finish. Before and during construction, he mowed fields to keep the bills paid.

Toward the end of the project, despite the massive amount of sweat equity he and his grandkids put in, there remained a balance of approximately $195k of debt on the house.

Then the cancer struck, rendering Marvin unable to complete the house and too debilitated to work the field mowing business. On top of that, mom and dad’s social security income was reduced to one. Effectively, our dad’s death decreased the household income by over 70%.

Our hope for our mom is to be able to keep the home that she waited nearly 50 years for. Your generous donations will go directly to pay down the debt on their home, with the goal to refinance into a monthly payment mom can afford.

They have lived in the Bitterroot Valley for nearly 15 years and have been involved in many different communities throughout the years. If you know Marvin, he probably had a positive impact on your life.

If you see this as an opportunity to be a blessing, please know that a contribution of any size would be received with great joy. Feel free to share this with others. Lastly, please pray for Susan and the rest of our family. We know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28, ESV).
