We are the Friends and Family of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mallet, Louisiana (Opelousas) and we are trying to support our community after a horrible act of vandalism on November 29th. Your support will allow us to make the necessary repairs to the church and to purchase security cameras as well as an alarm system to prevent future incidents. Our goal is to raise $25,000. ***ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY AND LOCATE PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR VANDALISM TO CHURCH***
On Saturday, 11-29-2025, deputies with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to St. Ann's Catholic Church located at 8348 Highway 190 in the Opelousas area. A church member went into the back hall of the church and noticed that multiple stained glass windows had been broken from the outside of the building.
Upon further inspection, the following additional damage was noted on the outside of the building: broken PVC plumbing pipes, broken electrical outlet, broken concrete sewer lids, broken spotlight in the front of the church, and cracked glass on the side door of the church.
The total amount of damage to the church and its grounds total approximately $6,500.00-$15,000.00 total.
